First and foremost, wow, I love today.

This has been a terrific start to the tampering period and I only hope it gets better. We had our first blockbuster of the day, and now we get our second!

The 49ers are moving on from one of the studs up front, and they get a nice return from the Colts. The Colts have the second most cap room in the league and they are now putting it to use because, they just P.A.I.D. Buckner.

Trade AND deal: Colts trade first-round pick (13th overall) to 49ers for All-Pro DT DeForest Buckner, who already has agreed to a massive contract that pays him $21 million a year and makes him the second-highest paid DT in NFL history behind only Aaron Donald, sources tell ESPN.

Good for Buckner and good for the Colts, I like this move all-around on both sides.

The 6’7 300 pound defensive tackle will add a huge boost to a colts front seven that severely needs it.

Buckner appeared in all 19 games last year helping the 49ers get to the Super Bowl and helping them become the best defense in the league.

In the 16 regular season games he played in, he totaled 7.5 sacks, 34 solo tackles, and 2 forced fumbles. Those 7.5 sacks added on to his career total, and he now has 28.5 sacks since entering the league in 2015.

Buckner is also very durable, playing in 63 of the 64 regular season games with the 49ers since 2015. I love this deal all-around.

The Colts get the boost and can now focus on other needs like quarterback and receiver.

Meanwhile, the 9ers save the cap, get a great pick, and still have a phenomenal defense / front 7.
