As we all know, the NFL and its new CBA has now allowed 14 teams into the playoffs, meaning, there will be one more wildcard game per year.

This morning, the NFL officially passed the rule on the 14-team playoff and that it will be implemented in the 2020 NFL season.

With this announcement, came the most surprising and head scratching move — well, in my opinion anyway — throughout this whole process.

This new wild card game, will be aired on … wait for it … yup, Nickelodeon.

Tucked within the NFL announcement of two additional playoff games is that one of those games will be broadcast on CBS but also on Nickelodeon, with a separately produced telecast geared toward a younger audience.

Uh, what?

Yeah, I don’t quite get that.

Sure, it’s it not solely aired on Nickelodeon, its a dual broadcast, with CBS, but I still don’t quite get it. I mean, could you imagine if Vontez Burfict’s hit on Antonio Brown was aired on Nickelodeon for all the young children to see?

Could you imagine the SpongeBob population watching this?

I don’t quite get what the NFL is trying to do here, but hey, whatever works for them? Right?
