Mock 2.0, Picks 17 — 32

Pick 17 — K’Lavon Chiasson

DLaw and Chiasson complimenting each other off the edge is scary. The Cowboys lost key defensive pieces due to keeping Zeke, Cooper, and now hopefully Prescott. With those losses, their focus is entirely on the defensive side of the ball.

Pick 18 — Xavier McKinney, S

The Dolphins had the most cap space entering free agency, and they used it. They added some big pieces like Byron Jones and Kyle Van Noy. They now add another secondary player. The Dolphins — may — have a bright future.

Pick 19 — Kristian Fulton, CB

The Raiders secondary has been depleted for awhile now and they add a nice player in Fulton here to help fix their secondary problems.

Pick 20 — Grant Delpit, CB

The Jaguars double-down here and take another secondary player. Delpit and Henderson will tremendously help a lackluster secondary.

Pick 21 — Tee Higgins, WR

Secondary and receiver will be the focus with this pick. A lot of big name corners and safeties are already selected, so Philly goes with another weapon for Wentz.

Pick 22 — Trevon Diggs, CB

The Vikings got this selection when they sent Stefon Diggs to Buffalo. They replace Diggs with another Diggs. With the loss of Xavier Rhodes, this pick makes a ton of sense.

Pick 23 — Kenneth Murray, LB

I get it, why not take Jordan Love here, right? Well, the reason they don’t is because of one name. Trevor. Lawrence. I fully believe the Pats will tank for Lawrence this year, in doing so, they add a nice linebacker to replace Van Noy.

Pick 24 — Patrick Queen, LB

Heartbreak. That seems to be the motto of the Saints following their last 3 playoff exits. Queen will be a nice addition to a pretty solid defense.

Pick 25 — Justin Jefferson, WR

The Vikings will go receiver and corner with their two first round selections — well, in my opinion. — They already went corner, and now they pick up Stefon Diggs’ replacement here.

Pick 26 — Josh Jones, OT

With their 3rd and final selection in the first-round, the Dolphins get their new franchise QB, Tua, protection. Whether they would hold Tua out this year is up to them, but they still select help up front here.

Pick 27 — Yetur Gross-Matos, Edge

Who knows if Jadeveon Clowney will be back, and whether he is or isn’t, I think this pick stays the same. The Seahawks need more rushers one way or another.

Pick 28 — Denzel Mims, WR

The Ravens were badly upset at home in the playoffs last year. They need more offensive weapons to surround Lamar Jackson. They get one in a big body framed Mims.

Pick 29 — Austin Jackson, OT

Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry will return for the 2020 season. With the departure of Jack Concklin, they need more holes and protection for their 2 key players.

Pick 30 — Ross Blacklock, IDL

With the way this draft is going, I would fully expect Green Bay to trade out of this spot. But I’m not doing trades, so they must make a selection. They take much-needed inside and run stopping help to go along with big Kenny Clark.

Pick 31 — A.J. Terrell, CB

The 49ers need extra secondary players other than Richard Sherman. Terrell will make an immediate impact to one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Pick 32 — D’Andre Swift, RB

To close out the first round, the defending champs take an explosive and shifty running back. Mahomes, Hill, Kelce, Watkins, Williams, Swift, my oh my.
