Before I get too excited, haven’t we seen this story before? For months now we’ve been told that baseball will get a deal in a place to play some sort of shortened season and that just hasn’t happened yet. Yesterday it became apparent that the MLBPA and MLB will finally agree to a deal to play the season, and well, as excited as I am, I’m not getting ahead of myself.
This wouldn’t be the first time that a deal was “agreed on” then all of the sudden it wasn’t. If this season happens, I’m pretty positive that whoever wins it all there will be an “*” next to that title forever. So we can chalk up back-to-back years with titles that will be deemed to not count.
Speaking of the cheaters, their shame tour should begin whenever the season starts up, and I don’t think it’s fair they only get 60 games for bad fortune. Not only that, but there will be no fans to boo them or make them contemplate no longer playing.
Just a side note — I am not for throwing at players, but I’m sure balls will be hurled towards the Astro players, and I’m not going to sit here and necessarily complain about it.
Anyway, with the season hopefully starting back up, there will be changes implemented that could make the new CBA talks. Universal DH, longer playoffs, expanded playoff field, etc.
Changes are on the way and for now, we seem to have baseball. But I will not believe it until Gleyber Torres hits a 450 foot bomb off the Orioles.
