Cam Newton signs with New England

Well well well, who would’ve expected this?

Oh yeah, everybody.

After being released by the Panthers a few short months ago, former MVP quarterback Cam Newton has struggled to find a new job. It seemed as if the Patriots were the only team that made sense for the injury riddled quarterback at this point, which is why this is not surprising.

Newton is only five years removed from his MVP and magical Super Bowl run season with the Carolina Panthers. And after the Panthers brought in new head Matt Rhule, it seemed they were ready for some major changes within the organization, and that began by releasing the former first overall pick.

Newton joins the best situation he could as the Patriots seem to be the only team with a question surrounding their quarterback room. Second year QB Jarrett Stidham seemed to be the guy, but maybe the Pats aren’t as comfortable with him as an option like we all thought.

Stidham led the 2019 preseason with touchdowns thrown and although he is only a fourth round selection, the Pats seemed to be high on the Auburn right handed slinger. Instead, Bill Belichick has brought in another former Auburn right handed slinger in Newton and I think he’s going to be the starter when the season starts.

Newton gets to learn under Belichick and play with an offense with weapons like Julian Edelman, N’Keal Harry, and Sony Michel. 2020 has been wild enough, so why should we be shocked that Newton will join the Patriots and probably bring them to glory. If Belichick wins a Super Bowl title in the first year without Tom Brady, in Brady’s new home, well, let’s hope that’s just not the case.

Yeah, this is going to take awhile to get used to.
